Answer The Call: Lead through Empowerment
Authentic student leadership grounded in
relationship development with self and others.
The Snapshot
Empowerment-Ed’s ‘Answer the Call’ is the peak leadership development program for students in Year 11. It serves to prepare students for the transition of their final year at school and beyond the school gates into adulthood.
Embedded with rituals of transition, authentic individual reflection, connected conversations while being grounded in self and collective empathy, Answer the Call is a program designed for students to invite them to realise their potential, no matter their context or personality. It is delivered across 14 modules over six-months, or as an intensive 2-3 day program. ‘Answer the Call’ invites participants to critically reflect on their own story in order for them to lead themselves before they can ultimately lead others.
FAQs
-
There are two key themes within the program. Within each of these themes, there are 7 modules (14 in total) that participants work though.
Embedded within each schools own context, six key rituals / milestones are experienced by students, culminating in their senior induction.
-
It depends on the schools' context. While it best done over a period of six months, there are three options of delivery:
Option 1: Over six months. A mixture of cohort engagement, rituals and experiences, plus 14 pastoral/formation/life-skills lessons allocated to the program. Staff involved in the delivery of lessons attend professional development through Ben at Empowerment-Ed will lead and facilitate these lessons.
Key transition rituals are embedded and aligned with pre-existing elements of the leadership program within the school. Rituals that are not present are added to the overall program.
Options 2: Schools run a 2/3-day intensive leadership program experience (usually as a leadership camp). Ben from Empowerment-Ed would facilitate this in conjunction with key pastoral well-being staff.
Option 3: student leaders camp with elected student leaders (run at end of Year 11 or start of Year 12).
-
The key hope of 'Answer the Call: Lead through Empowerment' is to align pre-existing leadership development elements that the school wants to keep, and strengthen their leadership formation to place senior students in the strongest place possible to lead their school in their final year.
